Brayton Hathorn

It is with great sadness that we announce the unexpected passing of our beloved son, Brayton Ray Hathorn.

Brayton was 16 years old and was a sophomore at Gordon-Rushville High School. He was a member of the football team, wrestling team, and Jr. Niobrara Sportsman Club. Brayton brought so much love and joy into our lives and to those teammates who were around him.

For those who knew Brayton well, knew of the light in his eyes and the quirky grin on his face. Brayton loved a good prank… anything to make those around him laugh and he was an incredibly witty young man. Brayton grew up around family, a lot of family. He enjoyed spending his time with his cousins, grandparents, and his horse Sugar. Our son relished the outdoors, and his best adventures were those out hunting in the sandhills or cruising with his brother and cousins.

We will forever miss your smile, your winking, and hearing the tunes of your endless whistling. Our broken hearts will forever be full of your memories.

Brayton is survived by his adoring parents, Tayler and Nicole Hathorn, his beloved siblings, Brooklyn, Braxton, and Bryson, grandparents Craig and Mary Musfelt, Maurice and Sandy Hathorn, his aunts and uncles, Rick (Melissa) Musfelt, Misti (Billy) Starr, Kayla Musfelt, Taryn (Keith) Sauer, Jerod (Jennifer) Hathorn, Kyle (Kelsey) Hathorn, cousins, his newborn nephew Copeland, and his best friend Braylynne McKimmey.

A visitation to be held at the Chamberlin-Pier Funeral Home in Gordon on Wednesday, April 26, at 5:00 PM. This will be a time of reflection, remembrance, and prayer.

A Celebration of Life service will be held in remembering and honoring Brayton on Thursday, April 27, at Gordon-Rushville High School. Doors will open at 1:00 PM for a time of family gathering and viewing of memorabilia that represented his life, followed by a celebration of life service at 2:00 PM.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be made through Chamberlain-Pier Funeral Home, PO Box 366, Gordon, NE 69343. To carry forward the support shown to Brayton Hathorn and the Hathorn family, Brayton’s memorial will go to support the Gordon-Rushville football team.
