Vereen "Fuzz" Forster

Our final goodbye to our beloved Dad, Grandpa, great Grandpa, friend, etc. Fuzz took his final breath on October 25, 2024, at the Gordon Countryside Care Nursing Home after a day filled with fun, bingo, and eating a Reeses with a smile on his face, Thank you all.

Vereen L. Forster “Fuzz” was born on November 17, 1940, to Lee G. and Alice Forster in Gordon, Nebraska. He was the youngest of their four children.

Calling Gordon home, Vereen graduated from Gordon High School in 1959. Sometime shortly after he met Francis Thomas, with the help of his big sister. They were married on August 20, 1961. Packing their bags they moved to Colorado, and after six months they returned to his hometown and settled down. Vereen and Francis started their family and to this union were born four children, Bart, Tammy, Bryan, and Vicki. Even though our father wasn’t very affectionate or showed his emotions, we never lacked anything. Thank you Dad.

Fuzz worked with his father learning many hand man trades which he used throughout his life. He also worked for the Gordon Water Department and Modern Farm Equipment, working mostly on Combines and swathers, he would even drive truck if needed. There was no time for vacation when harvest time came, even after retirement he didn’t slow down much, helping his friends with harvest, he even helped plant trees near Chadron, NE.

Vereen served his community as a volunteer fire fighter for many years, starting in 1966 and retiring in 2005. He also studied to help the EMS when needed. Fuzz was a member of the Prairie Dog Target Club and the NRA.

We all have different memories of Fuzz, cherish them.

Left to mourn his death are his two daughters, Tammy (Isidro) Zarate of Garden City, KS, and Vicki Forster (Ken Keller) of Gordon. His grandchildren Cassie, Carlos, Cody, Melissa, Raquel, Venus, Kannon, Tabitha, Kendra and Tyler, 23 great -great grandchildren, spouses of the grandchildren, Sis and Curtis along with other family and friends.

He was preceded in death by his wife Francis, parents Lee G. and Alice, in laws Albert and Isabel, sisters Vesta and Velma and their spouses, brother Vester, sister in laws Phyllis and Pat and spouses, his two sons Bart and Bryan, two great granddaughters Yessica and Arianna, and good friend from childhood Don and Pat Deckert. Until we meet again.

Funeral Services will be held Thursday, October 31, 2024, 10:00 AM at Chamberlain-Pier Funeral Home, Gordon, Nebraska, burial will take place at a later date. A memorial has been established for the Gordon Volunteer Fire Department and donations may be sent in care of Chamberlain-Pier Funeral Home, PO Box 366, Gordon, NE 69343.
