Funeral services for Valerie J. Pullen of Harrison, Nebraska, 91, will be held Saturday, November 12, 2016 at the Methodist Church in Harrison at 1:00 PM with Pastor Tim McCrary. Burial will be at the Harrison City Cemetery in Harrison, Nebraska.
Valerie was born October 16, 1925 to Arthur and Martha Lewis of south Sioux County, Nebraska. She graduated from Sioux County High School in 1943. She taught country school for one year at the Ellicott School before moving to California. There she worked for the Veteran's Administration in Santa Monica before marrying Duane Pullen on May 31, 1947 in Harrison, Nebraska. Valerie and Duane spent the rest of their lives living in the Harrison area.
Valerie was active in the Methodist Women's Circle for many years as well as a long standing member of the church. She loved discussing politics, football and sharing stories of her grandchildren.
Valerie was preceded in death by her husband Duane, her parents Arthur and Martha Lewis, and her four sisters, Pearl, Argyle, Donna and Vivian. She is also preceded by her three brothers Lyle, Russell and Doug.
Valarie is survived by her sons Richard (Virginia) of Lusk, Wyoming, Jim (Cheryl) of Las Vegas, Nevada, and David (Suzanne) of Fort Collins, Colorado. Her grandchildren are Calvin Pullen, Ashley (Josh) Decker, also three great grandchildren, Aspen, Max and Remington Decker.
The family asks in lieu of flowers, donations be made to the Memorial United Methodist Church of Harrison or the Harrison EMT. Donations may be sent to Chamberlain Chapel, PO Box 970, Chadron, NE 69337.
