Thomas M. (Tom) Julius, 66, of Crawford, went to be with the Lord on Saturday, February 17, 2024 at Chadron Community Hospital.
Tom was born June 19, 1957 in Farmington, NM, the fourth son to John Lewis Julius and Esther Ellen (Pat) Whitlock Julius.
The family moved from Farmington, New Mexico and landed in Napa, California around 1960.
Tom attended elementary through high school in Napa-graduating from Vintage High in 1975-making many lifelong friends along the way.
After graduation he headed west to the Nebraska panhandle-old stomping grounds for the Whitlock Julius clan. A few odd jobs here and there and in 1978 he began his career in train service for BNSF.
In May 1979 daughter, Denita Renee Julius was born.
January 1983 Tom met and later married the love of his life Dori Hannah-along with this union came daughter Stephanie Lynne Barth. In June 1984 daughter Nichole Marie Julius finished out the family.
Moving the family from Alliance to Crawford Tom continued working for BNSF-sold insurance and securities for a couple years-renovated several rental properties-owned and operated the Snow White Laundry-renovated the Old Knapp Building into the Other Bar & Grill.
He always kept himself busy with whatever project needed to be done for family or friend or whoever was in need.
After a 40 year career with BNSF Tom retired in December 2018. Bought a house in Deadwood and he and Dori turned their part-time Texas hold’em passion into full time fun.
Tom was a God fearing man-straightforward and honest-with a refreshingly funny sense of humor and gorgeous smile.
He was preceded in death by grandpa, John Julius; parents, John & Pat Julius; and brother, Bob Julius.
Tom is survived by his wife of 40 years, Dori; Daughters: Nichole (Les Johnson) Julius of Hastings, Steph Barth of Hastings, Denita Julius of Chadron, and bonus daughter Jeana (James Brown & Beau) Jacobs of McAlester, OK; grandchildren: Ali Barth, Dustin Julius, Dadrianna Serres, Davin Serres; great grandchildren: Dausinh Serres and Kiana Pinter; Brothers, John (Cynthia) Julius of Willits, California, George (Susie) Julius of Freeland, Washington; and numerous nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, and cousins.
In lieu of flowers a memorial has been established-donations may be made directly to the Crawford Fire Department in memory of Tom.
