TEMPLE JOAN “Hink” (OSTRANDER) HALVERSON Temple Joan (Ostrander) Halverson was born March 25, 1953, to Fern and Melvin Ostrander in Gordon, Nebraska. She passed away on March 13, 2020 at her home in Gordon.

Better known as “Hink”, she joined a family of six siblings. In 1955, triplets were born to Fern and Melvin boosting the siblings to ten. She attended Gordon Elementary School and graduated from Gordon High School in 1971. She enjoyed her high school years as a cheerleader, Girl’s State Delegate her junior year, Homecoming Queen candidate her senior year, etc.

She and Bruce Halverson were married September 18, 1971, in Gordon. They made their first home on the Spade Ranch south of Gordon. Country life didn’t appeal to Hink very well, thus they moved to Gordon where Bruce was employed at Ideal Market. The couple spent several years in Ainsworth, NE, as a result of a transfer for Bruce’s job. Upon their return to Gordon, Hink worked many years at Stockmen’s Drug and at Grocery Mart. All who shopped at the grocery store will remember her efficiency as a checker where she worked until retirement. Hink loved her kids and grandkids, enjoying their many and diversified activities. She and her sister Jerri spent many hours playing Scrabble and “cruising”. She had a special bond with all her nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents Fern and Melvin, sisters Jerri Piper and Janice Otis, brothers Morris, Gene, Donald, Daniel and a special nephew Paul Brennan.

She is survived by husband Bruce and their three children and grandchildren; son Bryan (April) and their children Braden, Karter, Allyson and Braylea; son Eric (Marika) and their children Conner, Madison and Jackson; daughter Sarah Jo (Tony) Meyer and their children Ben and Ella Jo; sisters Judy (Lanny) Forster, Cheryl (Tim) Miller, Donna (Dan) Brennan and many nieces and nephews

. As per Hink’s wishes, cremation was chosen and no formal service.
