Steven Scoggan lost his battle with Parkinson’s Disease on April 20, 2025. He was born in Scottsbluff, Nebraska on September 8, 1954, to Robert and Betty Jo (Rawlings) Scoggan. His family farmed in several places in Wyoming and Nebraska before moving to Crawford in 1971.
Steven graduated from Crawford High School in 1972 and from Western Nebraska Community College in Sidney, Nebraska, in 1974, obtaining his electrical license. He worked with his father at B&S Electric in Crawford until 1975 when he moved to Fort Laramie, where his fiancé, Patricia Bowsher was living and student teaching. He and Patricia were then married on August 2, 1975. They had three children, Gabriel, Carie, and Miranda.
Steven worked for the town of Fort Laramie, Bullock Electric, and then at CF&I until it’s closure. Steven and his family then moved to Crawford once again, working with his father at B&S Electric. He then worked for the Nebraska State Historical Society for twenty years, until he was diagnosed with Parkinson’s Disease at age 48.
Steven was preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Betty Jo Scoggan, his grandparents, Harold and Fern Rawlings, and his father-in-law and mother-in-law, Andrew and Frances Bowsher.
Steven is survived by his wife, Patricia, his son Gabe (Alisha), his daughters, Carie and Miranda (Robert), and his son-in-law, Kirk Forbes. Steven and Patricia have six Grandchildren, Kain (Shelby), Mackenzie (Dustin), Chaney (Harley), Sebastian (Kyra), Teagan, and Gabriel, six Great Grandchildren, Vincent, Charlotte, Ames, Stetson, Rhys, and one on the way. He is also survived by his sister, Sandra.
Steven will forever be remembered as a joke-telling, fun-loving, caring father and grandfather. He could build and repair anything and was always willing to help anyone at any time. Despite battling Parkinson’s disease for 25 years, he never lost his optimistic outlook on life, his sense of humor, or his devotion to faith.
He loved his family! He will be missed more than words could ever convey.
