Ruth Walgren

Ruth Helen (Fuchser) Walgren passed way Tuesday, November 21, 2017, at Crest View Care Center in
Chadron, Nebraska. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 A.M. on Tuesday, November 28, 2017, at the
United Methodist Church in Hay Springs, Nebraska.
Ruth Helen was born December 16, 1921 - the youngest of three daughters of Ernest and Ada Violet
Fuchser. Ruth and her two sisters, Evelyn and Irene, were raised on the Fuchser family ranch, the Half
Circle O, near Irwin, Nebraska, approximately 25 miles east of Gordon, Nebraska. Ruth Helen attended
the local Cherry County rural elementary school, and graduated from Gordon High School in 1939. Ruth
Helen briefly attended Chadron State College, as well as cosmetology school in Omaha, Nebraska.
Ruth Helen married a Sheridan County rancher, William Lyle ("Billy") Walgren, on August 20, 1949 in
Rushville, Nebraska. Billy and Ruth Helen raised their two children, Lyle Owen, and Ada Marlene, on the
Walgren family ranch northeast of Hay Springs.
Ruth Helen was preceded in death by Billy and Ruth's infant son, Calvin Lee Walgren, who died at birth,
husband Billy, parents Ernest and Ada Fuchser, mother-in-law Margaret Elizabeth ("Maggie") Walgren,
father-in-law Fredrick Henry ("Fred") Walgren, sisters Evelyn Tway and Irene McDonnell, brothers-in-law
LaVernon Walgren, Fredrick Walgren, Louis McDonnell and Blaine Tway, sisters-in-law Margaret Mae
Walgren, Pauline Walgren, Margaret Lauder Walgren and Mary Lauder Walgren, and nephew Craig
Walgren.
Ruth Helen is survived by her son, Lyle Owen Walgren of Hay Springs, Nebraska, daughter, Ada Marlene
Walgren of Jenks, Oklahoma, and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Chamberlain Drabbels Mortuary of Hay Springs is in charge of arrangements. In lieu of flowers, the family
requests that a donation be made to the Hay Springs Volunteer Fire Department in memory of Ruth Helen.
