On June 22, 2014 at 6:32 PM, Russell Lewis Garner, born February 20, 1932, went to his heavenly father and home. He was a long time resident of Crawford, Nebraska. He served bravely in the Korean War from November 1953 - October 1955 where he also entertained the troops with his music. He spent decades entertaining people with his unique style and music. He passed away at his ranch outside of Crawford. He is loved and admired by all his relatives and many fans. His music and memory will live on within all of us who love and adore him. He is survived by his 5 daughters Valinda King, Dawn Slaton, Crystal Campbell, Holly Jo Dyk, and Tracy Mahlum. He is also survived by 13 grandchildren, James King, Michael King, Shannen King, Aaron Garner, Russell (Lance) Garner, Kyle Slaton, James (Blake) Garner, Amber Slaton, Matthew Newman, Robert Campbell, Kristin Campbell, Kamryn Dally and Alyssa Mahlum. He is also survived by 2 great grandchildren, James King III and Nevaeh Hennessy. Russ was preceded in death by his parents Minnie and Russell Garner, Sister Louise Dyer, son Russell Lance Garner and a grandson Anthony King. A memorial has been established for the American Cancer Society or the Disabled Veterans of America. Donations may be sent to Chamberlain Chapel, PO Box 970, Chadron, NE 69337.
