Royce Dean Bailey was born July 19, 1952, to Ira and Orabelle (Goochey) Bailey in Rushville, Nebraska. He grew up in the Hay Springs area and attended a small country school during elementary years. He attended Hay Springs High School until moving to Gordon and graduated from Gordon High School in 1970.
Royce married Janice Faulk September 4, 1971, and to this union 4 children were born: Angela, Charla, Trisha and Weston. Jan passed away in 2009. Royce remarried in 2013 to Mary Pettit.
Royce worked at several jobs during his life including Ideal Market, Ruse Farms, Wagon Wheel Liquor and Jefco Glass. He purchased Jefco Glass in 1988 and continued the business until his passing.
Royce enjoyed life and loved spending time with family, especially the grandchildren. Nothing was more fun than spending time at the lake and taking everyone for rides on the boat or tube. He also enjoyed a good game of cards, horseshoes, or corn hole. Camping was becoming a favorite pastime along with sitting around fire pits with friends and family.
Royce passed away December 15, 2021, in Omaha, Nebraska surrounded by his children and wife. He will always be remembered for his quick smile, kind heart and an occasional voice like Donald Duck.
Royce was preceded in death by his wife Jan, sister Leora, and parents Ira and Orabelle.
He is survived by his wife Mary, children: Angela (Dean), Charla, Trisha (Casey), and Weston (Tammy), grandchildren: Brandon (Lauren), Joshua (Angel), Paxton (fiance Carson), Corbin, BreAnna, Caydence, and Payton, brother Rodney, great grandchildren Oliver and Ruby, and numerous nieces and nephews. He is also survived by his stepfamily: Kelcey (Landon), Zach and Aidan; Wade and Jeremy; Jared (Bobbi), Emmi and Jaxen; Ashley, Morgan and Jace; Allison (Doug), M'Kenna, Wyatt and Nataleigh.
A memorial has been established and donations may be sent to Chamberlain-Pier Funeral Home at PO Box 366, Gordon, Nebraska 69343.
