Rosetta A. Halverson Piercy Rosetta Arletta Coleman Halverson Piercy, 92, of Gordon, Nebraska, passed away September 18, 2014, at Gordon Memorial Hospital. Rosetta, the youngest of seven children, was born May 26, 1922, in Hay Springs, Nebraska. She graduated from Hay Springs High School in 1939. In 1941 she went to California with her brother Ted and worked for IBM and Security National Bank in Los Angeles. She returned to Hay Springs in 1944 to be with her father until his death in 1945. Rosetta married Hillard Russell Halverson, January 11, 1945. They made their home and raised their four boys on the Spade Ranch. Upon Hillard's death in 1969, Rosetta moved to Gordon and worked as secretary in the elementary school for two years. On October 23, 1971, Rosetta married Harry Piercy and gained one step son and four step daughters. They lived on the Piercy Ranch south of Valentine until retiring in Valentine in 1978. Harry died in 1983. Rosetta moved back to Gordon and was able to enjoy spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, right up until her death. Family, friends, and faith were the focus or her life. Survivors include sons, Leonard Halverson and wife Carol, Bruce Halverson and wife Temple, Richard Halverson and wife Linda, Jerry Halverson and wife Marilyn; step son Gaylen Piercy, step daughters Marcia Shuler, Mary Jones, Marla Piercy and Margaret Smith, also 13 grandchildren and 22 great-grandchildren. Services were held Monday, September 22, 2014, 10:00 am at Chamberlain-Pier Funeral Home, Gordon, NE, with Celebrant Harlen Wheeler officiating. Burial was held in Fairview Cemetery, Rushville, NE. Pallbearers were her grandchildren.
