Rosemary Hollibaugh

September 22, 1935 — April 20, 2016

RoseMary J. (Falkenburg) Hollibaugh-wife of Kenneth; mother of Debra, Joleen, Linda, and Karl- died at her home surrounded by loved ones on April 20th, 2016. Her last weeks were a struggle against cancer, but also a testimony to her faith and fortitude. She was born September 22nd, 1935, on a ranch south of Douglas, Wyoming, in the depths of the Great Depression, RoseMary experienced poverty, hard work, and the love of family. She was baptized into Christ's death and resurrection, catechized, and confirmed at Zion Lutheran Church, Hay Springs, Nebraska.

She graduated from high school in Douglas, Wyoming in 1953 and attended a summer session at Chadron State College. She then went to work as a nurse aide at St. Mary's Hospital in Alliance, Nebraska. While there she met a rancher, Kenneth Hollibaugh, from nearby Marsland. Their first date was to watch a rodeo. She married Kenneth in June, 1954. To this union three daughters and a son were born: Debra (Mark) Pieper; Joleen (Matt) Pieper; Linda (Tom Ahrens) Hollibaugh; and Karl (Becky) Hollibaugh. Kenneth and Rosemary bought the Horn and Morgan Ranch south and east of Hay Springs in 1963 and raised their family there.

RoseMary delighted in her many grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She is especially remembered for her wonderful cooking. When all her children were grown, she went to work as a dietary aide and cook at Chadron Community Hospital. She later worked as cook and kitchen manager at Sheridan Livestock Auction.

RoseMary was preceded in death by her parents, Herman and Gertrude Falkenburg; sister, Joy Hardy; and grandson, Travis Pieper. She leaves to mourn her death her husband of 62 years; her children and their spouses; 9 grandchildren; 19 great-grand-children; brothers George (Phyllis) and Joe; many nieces, nephews, and friends.

Then I heard a voice from heaven saying to me, "Write: ‘Blessed are the dead who die in the Lord from now on.'" "Yes," says the Spirit, "that they may rest from their labors, and their works follow them." ~ Revelation 14:13
