Ronald Sherman Aschwege, 82, of Crawford passed away on December 24, 2016 at Crestview Nursing Home in Chadron.
He was born to Lydia (Hack) and Herman Aschwege on December 13, 1934 at Butcher's Hospital in Crawford.
After graduating 8th grade at Belmont he helped his father on the farm.
On June 17, 1955 he was united in marriage with Lois L. (Taggart). To this union four children were born: Cindy Sue, May 15, 1956, Peggy Lorraine, October 11, 1958, Ronald Gerry, February 25, 1963, and Diana Lynn, January 28, 1977.
He began employment for Norgard Hatchery. Following employment at Norgard's he rented a farm in the Belmont Area. After leaving the farm, Ron moved his family to Crawford where he helped with construction of the grain elevator, he proceeded to help run for Rex Hagemeister's Grain and Feed Lot up to his retirement at West Plains Grain in 2006 after 50+ years of service.
Ronald was a faithful member of Bethlehem Lutheran Church where he was baptized as an infant and confirmed on June 19th, 1949. He taught Sunday School for many years there. Ron also was an elder of the church and an usher. His faith was very important to him as he did daily devotions every morning. Ronald had many hobbies including hunting, farming, working with livestock and vehicles. He treasured spending time with his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.
He is survived by his four children: Cindy (Jerry) Sterling of Crawford; Peggy Aschwege of Crawford; Gerry Aschwege of Ashby; Diana (Stuart) Reinke of Byron, eight grandchildren, nine great grandchildren, and numerous other family members and close friends.
He is preceded in death by his parents and his wife.
