Ronald James Hess was born on March 19, 1942 at Gordon, Nebraska and passed on April 1, 2025 at the age of 83. He was the second child of Willard J. (Curly) Hess and Frances N. (Jenkins) Hess.
He was baptized in the Methodist church in Clinton and grew in his strong Christian faith throughout his life.
Ron lived on the farm north of Clinton with his family and attended grade school at Clinton and graduated High School in Gordon in 1960. He attended Denver University for a time and then came home to work on the farm.
He married Janet Harris in 1961 and lived in Ft. Morgan, Colorado where son Greg was born. Later they moved back to Gordon to help Curly with the Goodyear Tire Store. Their second son Grant was born in Gordon. Ron later took over the work at the farm and a few years later moved his family to Loveland, Colorado where Ron did very well as a real estate salesman.
Ron and Janet dissolved their marriage in 1998 and Ron relocated to Gordon in 1999 and worked for his brother-in-law Jerry Bottorff.
Ron reconnected with a high school classmate, Jean Ann (McGinley) Curry and they were married on December 7, 2004. In 2011 when they retired they traveled in the winter months in their converted Greyhound bus, towing a 3 axle box trailer that Ron built that contained a small car and an art studio for Jean and a shop for Ron. In the summer months they enjoyed their place in Gordon with garden and workshop, where many fascinating projects took place.
He was a mechanic, truck driver, parts counter man, farmer, real estate salesman, feed lot manager, andtire store manager. He built cars for drag racing and was proficient at a multitude of things.
