Robert 'Bob' Morsett

Robert Melvin Morsett, 93, of Rushville, Nebraska, died April 20, 2023, at Gordon Countryside Care with family by his side. He was born June 14, 1929, in Bennett County, South Dakota, to Frank and Pearl Morsett.

Bob met the love of his life Leora Belsky, and they were married July 21, 1951, at Martin, South Dakota. They made their home in Martin where a daughter, Linda Lou, was born. After they moved to Merriman, a son joined their family, Frankie Joe.

When Bob was young, he helped his dad on the farm. He also worked at Fort Randall Dam before he went to work for the State Road Department and worked for them for 34 years. He helped around with odd jobs for friends, and he built his own home in Merriman. He retired from Swann after working for over 20 years. After retirement he helped at the Bowring Ranch and Cotton Wood Lake with the State of Nebraska.

Some of Bob’s hobbies include racing stock cars, bowling, playing cards, and making friends with people and family. He will be missed by all.

His survivors include his daughter Linda (Jim) Landreth of Rushville, NE, son Frankie (Lisa) Morsett of Charlotte, NC, grandson Robbie (Sara Beth) of Glen Rock, WY, granddaughter Jenny (Jason) of Scottsbluff, NE, grandsons David and Mathew, granddaughter Sara, 3 great-grandchildren Davin, David, and Jorja. Sisters-in-law Marlene, Judy (Bill) and brother-in-law Tom, and nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents Frank and Pearl, his wife Leora and her parents Joe and Jennie Belsky, 3 brothers Jack, Bill, and Albert, brother-in-law Les, 2 sisters Mildred and Ida and one sister-in-law Nancy.

Memorial service will be held Friday May 5, 2023, 10:00 AM at the Morse Memorial Methodist Church in Rushville with inurnment at Martin Community Cemetery, Martin, SD, at 1:30 PM. A memorial has been established for the Morse Memorial Methodist Church of Rushville and donations may be sent in care of Chamberlain-Pier Funeral Home, PO Box 366, Gordon, NE 69343.
