Robert "Bob" Bolzer
Bob Bolzer 81, of Martin, SD, died Tuesday, December 19, 2017 at Bennett County Hospital.
He was born February 27, 1936 in Gordon, Nebraska to Fred and Lydia (Stricker) Bolzer. He spent his youth on a farm/ranch northeast of Batesland, SD. He attended Bennett County Schools.
On November 11, 1956 he married Cecelia "CeCee" Skalinder at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Batesland. They spent their early married life on the farm/ranch with his parents. Two boys, Pete and Toby were born while living there. In 1963 they moved to a farm/ranch in the Vetal vicinity. Another boy, Bob Jr. was born there.
Bob was what you called a "jack of all trades". During his life time, while living on the farm/ranch he repaired TVs, repaired the "farmers" telephone line, repaired and sold CB radios, sold Loomix feeds, drove school bus and was janitor for Central School, owned a motel for three years, ground hay, worked for Bennett County spraying weeds and was janitor for the courthouse. The last job he held was for the State of South Dakota Highway Maintenance Department in Martin. In early 2011 he was forced to retire due to poor health. He was a member of Our Redeemers Lutheran Church in Martin.
Survivors include his wife, CeCee, of 61 years, three sons Pete (Cathy), Kellie, Katie and Kerrie; Toby; Bob Jr. (Lori) Jill and Mollie; four great grandchildren; one brother, Kenneth (Roz); and two sisters, Donna Nelson and Kay Larson (Durwood).
Services were held Saturday December 23, 2017, 10:00 AM, at Our Redeemers Lutheran Church in Martin, SD with Pastor Samuel Pappenfuss officiating. Inurnment was held in the Martin Community Cemetery.
The family suggests memorials to be made to Our Redeemers Lutheran Church or the Bennet County Home Health and donations may be sent in care of Bennett County Funeral Service, PO Box 65, Martin, SD 57551.
