Olive M. Raben, 94 died peacefully on July 21, 2015 at Skyview Nursing Home in Bridgeport, Nebraska. Olive was born on August 16, 1920 to Paul and Lottie Zerbst in in Harrison, Nebraska. The family moved to Crawford in 1934 where she finished her high school years. She worked at Nash Finch as a secretary until she met and married Elmer Raben. They lived north of Crawford where they raised cattle, wheat and six children. Olive was musically gifted and along with her Aunt Irene Sibert, sang at many a funeral and church service. She also played piano or organ at most of the churches in town. She always had some book to read or needlework to do. She never liked to be idle. Olive is survived by her sons Pete of Crawford, Paul (Carol) of Hemingford, Ron (Cora) of Rapid City, South Dakota, Terry (Deb) of Torrington, Wyoming and a daughter Pat (Dan) of Bridgeport, NE, 19 grandchildren, 38 great grandchildren and 3 great great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and son Gary. A memorial has been established for the Chadron Public Library or the Chadron Rescue Unit.
