Neil was born on April 16, 1961 to Joe R. Nunn and Patricia Marie (Corbin) Nunn in Scottsbluff, Nebraska. He was the fourth of five children to grow up on the Six Bar Ranch. He attended grade school at Grandview Country School and Harrison Grade School. He graduated from Sioux County High School in 1979. After graduation he attended Chadron State College before returning to the ranch. In Neil's youth, he was active in 4-H and playing sports. He especially enjoyed football, basketball, and found a deep passion for horsemanship. He continued to support and enjoy these activities throughout his life. On a bitter cold February 4, 1989, Neil married Kathleen Broyles at Jay Em, Wyoming. To this union, two children were born, Kodi Jo and Clint Lee. After marriage, Neil and Kathy purchased their own ranch just up the river from his childhood home. He was a member of the Harrison Rural Fire Department, the Harrison Roping Club, and the Memorial United Methodist Church along with being a Brand Inspector for the Nebraska Brand Committee. Neil was very passionate about his horses, Nebraska Cornhusker Football and Ranch Life. He enjoyed sharing these passions with his children. Neil is survived by his wife Kathy; daughter, Kodi (Garrette Naillon); son, Clint; father Joe; brothers, Tom (Beth) and Richard Nunn; sisters, Connie (Mike) Brost and Barb (Mark) Serres; father and mother-in-law Richard and Lorraine Broyles; sister-in-law Marilyn (Pat) Wright; along with numerous nieces, nephews, and countless friends.
