Naomi Jane Moss was born on December 18, 1927, in Crawford, Nebraska. Her parents were Ray H Moss and Olive Finney Moss. She had two siblings, Robert Moss and Sandra Jean Moss.
As a young girl she loved school. During her elementary years, the school and her parents made the decision to advance her a grade. Naomi would be quick to tell you it had nothing to do with her academic prowess but rather a "social" decision that was considered in her best interest. As a result, she graduated in 1944 at age 16 - the youngest in her class. She loved music and participated in the school choir… until the choir director suggested the band might be a better use of her musical talents. . She was a voracious reader whose library card # can be found penciled on the inside cover of nearly every mystery in the Crawford library.
As with most people of her generation who experienced so much of American history firsthand, she developed a strong sense of patriotism and pride in her country. The sight of the flag being carried by a color guard, or a marching band playing a military march would always put a lump in her throat and tears of joy to her eyes.
In 1948, she married Frank Reeves. And from that union, there were children- Kip, Kyle, Kerri and Kandyce. Naomi had found her purpose. From the time she became a mother, she would spend the next 65 years leading by example, nurturing in her children an unbreakable sense of family, sharing their joys and worrying them through their challenges. They learned from her that a house is just a structure, but a home is where your mom lives! And when you come home there will be a roast in the oven.
Naomi left this world on May 17th in the arms of her daughter Kandyce. She was preceded in death by her parents Ray and Olive Moss, her brother Robert Moss, her sister Sandra Moss, her husband Frank Reeves and her daughter in law Katherine Lockwood Reeves.
She is survived by her children, Kip Reeves and his wife Kathy of Grand Island, NE; Kyle Reeves and his wife Diana of Crawford, NE; Kerri Ottley and her husband David of Jackson, WY; Kandyce Arnold and her husband Jeff of Fremont, NE; and Cher Connell Reeves of Whitney, NE; her grandchildren, Brian Reeves and his wife Shannon; Wendy Reeves and her husband Jesse Hayes, Tonya Reeves Carlson and her husband Tyler; Shep Ottley and his wife Amanda; Joey Ottley and his wife Erin; Trey Ottley and his wife Laura; Kip Tyler Arnold and his fiancé Brandi; Sunny Jean Arnold Karges and her husband Matt; Ryan Dorshorst and his wife Clair; 9 grandchildren, 8 great-grandchildren along with numerous nieces and nephews.
