Michael Ray Zimmerman, a lifelong resident of Harrison, died Feb. 6.
Michael was known for his wry wit and friendliness and his self-taught skill in playing guitar and singing.
After graduating from Sioux County High School, “Mike” attended Chadron State College and the University of Nebraska before returning to Harrison to reside with his parents. He later served as village clerk for Harrison.
Mike was known as a sharp bridge player and was a landowner and an astute online day trader. He also was respected for his courage and determination in dealing with his physical limitations.
Michael was born September 21, 1948 in Lusk, Wyoming, to Emery and Marcella Zimmerman.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his dear friend Jane Lewis and his nieces Brenda and Kimberly. Survivors include his sister, Julie Ellicott, Abbieville, Ga., brother David Zimmerman, Pensacola, Fl., nephew, Robert Ellicott, niece, Elizabeth Zimmerman, aunt Olita Zimmerman, and numerous cousins and lifelong friends.
Michael passed away at Regional West Hospital in Scottsbluff after having a heart attack following surgery.
Services are at 2 pm Tuesday, Feb. 18 at the Harrison Methodist Church. Burial in Harrison Cemetery.
