Margie Hinn

November 26, 1931 — September 16, 2024

Margie Lee (Tiensvold) Hinn, a woman loved and admired by all who knew her, was the third child born to Lloyd and Katherine Tiensvold on November 26,1931. She grew up with her siblings Buddy, Bonnie Jean and Judy. Bonnie Jean and Margie were best friends from childhood on and they did everything together. Margie’s childhood home was six miles north of Rushville and there were a lot of cousins running around. She always fondly recalled “there was a Tiensvold on every corner”. It was here that Margie attended a little one room country school, District #38 with 15 other students. From there, she went to St. Mary’s, all-girls school, in Omaha to continue her education. After her schooling was completed, she returned to Rushville to teach. Margie taught third grade for two years at Rushville Elementary. Then she met the love of her life, Charlie Hinn after he returned from his service in the Navy. They dated for two years before they were married on May 28, 1952. Charlie and Margie enjoyed 52 years of marriage. From this union they were blessed with Ginny, Nancy, Shirley, and Chuck. Over the years their home was a gathering place for holidays and bridge parties. With all her children living close by, her house was always the gathering place. The old player-piano was a popular hit at Halloween with the “ghost” playing for the kids and at Christmas for the family to gather around to sing songs. Charlie and Margie didn’t just share their home life, but loved working together. In 1956, they opened Hinn’s Hardware & Furniture in Rushville, in 1986, Hinn's Clothing Center in Gordon, and in 1989, Hinn’s Home Furnishings in Gordon. Through their businesses they made many wonderful connections with the people in the community and surrounding areas. Margie worked hard but always made the time to enjoy life too. She loved playing bridge for over 50 years in several different clubs. She enjoyed cards of all kinds, always willing to play anywhere at any time! Something else Margie enjoyed was faithfully attending the USS Essex ship reunion for over 34 years with her Charlie. They were the only couple to have a perfect attendance record. Margie was not only a loving wife and mother but the love she had for her grandchildren was limitless and they in turn adored their grandma. Margie was blessed with 18 grandkids, and 26 great grandkids and she was proud of every single one of them. She remained surrounded and supported by the family who loved her until she joined her Charlie on Monday the 16th of September. Margie was preceded in death by her parents Lloyd and Katherine, her siblings Bonnie Jean, Buddy and Judy, her loving husband Charlie, and her son in-law Tom. She is survived by Ginny (Jerry) Kearns, Nancy (Bill) Hotz, Shirley Wiles and Chuck (Janet) Hinn, her grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Margie will remain in the hearts and minds of all she leaves behind.
