Lois Mccoy

Funeral Services for Lois McCoy of Crawford, Nebraska will be held on Monday, August 23, 2021 at 11:00 AM at United Methodist Church in Crawford, Nebraska.

Lois passed away on August 20, 2021 at the Chadron Community Hospital in Chadron, Nebraska. Mrs. McCoy was born on September 19, 1937 in Alliance, Nebraska She was 83.

Lois Joan McCoy was born to John and Faye Williams on September 19, 1937 in Alliance NE and came to her home in Crawford by train at 3 days old.  During high school, she met the love of her life while working at the Elite movie theater in Crawford.  She married Gerald McCoy on November 26, 1955 after 18 months of courtship.  To this union were born 2 girls and 1 boy.   Lois worked for Nebraska Public Power District for over 25 years while raising her family.  After retiring, she and Gerald built their dream retirement home together on the home ranch in Sioux County near Glen. She enjoyed gardening throughout her life and finally became a Master Gardener when she retired. She lived there with Gerald and the deer, turkeys, and other wild animals until her passing.  She passed peacefully with her husband holding her hand on August 20, 2021 at the age of 83.    She loved to bowl and earned many trophies while on the bowling leagues.  She was passionate about photography, and always had her camera ready. She prepared the Eagles’ birthday calendar for many years.  She also enjoyed camping, fishing and boating and shared this with her family as they grew up.

She is survived by her husband, Gerald McCoy, her 3 children, Alta (Bob) Wright, Beverly (Gary) Witt, and Doyle (Tammie) McCoy, and her 2 sisters, Martha Henderson and Millie Miller.   She is also survived by her grandchildren and great-grandchildren as well as a multitude of close family.  She was preceded in death by her mother and father.
