Lloyd Arnold Serres was born August 26th, 1951 in Gordon, NE to Ernest Paul Serres & Alice Waunita (Glass) Serres. He was older brother to Rodney, Thomas, Nancy, Daniel, Kathy. Lloyd was husband to Renae; father to Ernest, Lisa, Ryan, & Billie Jean; father-in-law to Rosie & Sophie; Grandfather to Ailema, Robert, & Ash; and uncle to dozens. He passed away October 1, 2017, in Martin, South Dakato.

Lloyd was raised in Chadron, NE, where he graduated from Chadron High school. Some of Lloyd's accomplishments include being a Navy C.B. during the Vietnam War, a Journeyman Electrician, a true horseman, & a sober alcoholic for 21 years.

Lloyd had a huge heart and a habit of bringing home strays, both animals & humans. He enjoyed helping people & always stood for those who needed him. Lloyd hated bullies & dishonesty & would never hesitate to let you know his opinion on whatever matter was under discussion.

After Lloyd moved to South Dakota, he reevaluated his life, went to treatment for his alcoholism & joined AA. During his time in AA, Lloyd helped dozens of people make better life decisions. AA became one of the main focuses in his life for the last 21 years. Lloyd found fulfillment and strength in his meetings and in helping others.

Lloyd loved all of his nieces & nephews and was very proud of all of their accomplishments. He loved his children and was the best father that he knew how to be. Lloyd adored his grandchildren & loved being "Papa."

Lloyd took his position as oldest child very seriously. He did his very best to take care of his mother & make sure that she was happy & provided for. Lloyd loved his brothers & sisters & always had a piece of advise whether they wanted it or not. He was always there to listen to anyone who needed an ear.

Lloyd was passionate about many things. He loved horses & his beloved dog Banjo. He enjoyed fishing, road trips - as long as he was driving, old country music, & a good bargain. He loved ranching, being a cowboy, & living the Western lifestyle.

Lloyd was loved by many & will be missed by all.

Lloyd is preceded in death by his father, Ernest Paul Serres, Father-in-law Vernon Butcher, Aunt Grace, Uncles Louis & Bert, Nephews Chris & Joseph, Niece Tommi, & Brother-in-law Bill and numerous aunts and uncles.

Memorial services with Military Honors were held Friday October 6, 2017, 11:00 AM at the American Legion in Martin, South Dakota.
