Linda was born in Crawford, Nebraska, on September 19, 1940, to Carl and Lucille (Howard) Engebretsen. She grew up on the family farm in Harrison/Sioux County with her parents and older siblings Nelson and Barbara (Hall). She graduated from Sioux County High School and later received a teaching certificate and taught school for two years. She also worked at Sioux County National Bank in Harrison for four years. After she moved to Crawford she worked at Ruby's Variety and the Ponderosa Villa, where she retired after 36 years as a CNA and Medication Aide.
On April 2, 1961, Linda and Rodney Stetson were married in Harrison in the Redeemer Lutheran Church where she had also been baptized and confirmed. After Rod was honorably discharged from the Army, they settled down in Crawford where they raised their two sons, Neal and Tony.
Linda was a caring person with a keen sense of humor who always made time to visit, lend an ear and help whenever possible. She and Rod always had a large garden and enjoyed canning and sharing what they grew. She was involved in her community and belonged to several organizations, including the Bethlehem Evangelical Lutheran Church for 56 years, where she was active in (LWML) ladies aid, she was a Cub Scout den mother and a member of the Ladies Jaycees. Linda was a Big Red fan through and through - her favorite college football team was the Nebraska Cornhuskers and almost never missed a game.
Linda is survived by sons, Neal Stetson (David Pfannenstiel) of Denver and Tony (Robin) Stetson; grandson Trenton (Missy) Stetson of Coolidge, AZ; granddaughter Devon Stetson of Crawford; great grandson Rhett of Coolidge, AZ and great grandson Brandon of Crawford; brother Nelson (Roberta) Engebretsen of Washington, NC; sister Barbara Hall of Fargo, ND and many nephews, nieces, cousins and friends. She will be greatly missed by everyone who had the chance to know her.
Linda was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Rod, and her brother-in-law Dick Hall.
