Hope “LeToy” Leach was the first-born child of Fred & Winnie (Henderson) Burck, born on January 14, 1941. She grew up in Gordon, Nebraska and surrounding areas. In the early 1960s she graduated from Cosmetology College in Norfolk, later returning to Gordon where she began her career as a hairdresser. She then moved to Ceres, California where she operated her own beauty salon for 15 years. LeToy returned to Gordon where she worked at Kut n’ Kurl salon for many years.
In 1996, she and her longtime partner John Leach, as well as her brother, Gary Burck, retired to Caddo Lake, Texas to spend their days doing what they loved—fishing and gardening. John and LeToy were married October 28, 1998.
LeToy was known for her creativity, which included beautiful quilt making, crochet, and various other crafts. She was a collector of recipes and loved to cook, always sharing her culinary creations with friends and family. She was adventurous, having driven an 18-wheeler across the country with her brother, riding motorcycles in the mountains, and speeding around the lake on her boat or behind on skies. LeToy will be remembered as a compassionate soldier wearing her heart on her sleeve.
She was preceded in death by her husband, John Leach; her brother Gary Burck; her mother and stepfather Winnie and Aubrey Brice, as well as her father Fred Burck.
LeToy will be missed by her sister and brother-in-law Jeanie and Gene Keyser; nieces Robin and Paige Keyser, and great niece Avery Fox, all of California; and brother-in-law Aubrey Leach and grandson Justin Kleeb of Nebraska.
LeToy passed away peacefully on December 21, 2018 a the age of 77 at her home in Marion County, Texas.
Graveside services will be held Wednesday January 2, 2019, 2:00 PM at Fairview Cemetery, Rushville, Nebraska.
