Leora Morsett

June 21, 1930 — December 13, 2016

Leora R. Morsett, 86, of Rushville, Nebraska, died Tuesday, December 13, 2016, at Gordon Countryside Care, after a short battle with Leukemia. Her husband Robert, of 65 years was by her side.

She was born June 21, 1930, in Merriman, Nebraska, to Joe and Jennie Belsky. As a young girl, she lived with her family in Merriman and graduated from the Merriman School. She helped her parents run a rooming house.

Leora met the love of her life, Robert Morsett, and they were married July 21, 1951, at Martin, SD. They made their home in Martin where a daughter, Linda Lou, was born. After they moved to Merriman, a son, Frankie Joe, was born.

Leora did work babysitting, house work for friends, worked at the Sand Café, Sand Motel and also contracted with the State of Nebraska to maintain campgrounds at Cotton Wood Lake. Her hobbies were making Jellies and being with her grandkids. They all have fond memories and stories about Grandma.

She will be missed by all. Her survivors include her husband Robert of Rushville, daughter Linda (Jim) Landreth of Rushville, son Frank (Lisa) of North Olmstead, OH, grandson Rob (Sara Beth) of Glen Rock, WY, granddaughter Jenny (Jason) of Scottsbluff, NE, grandsons David & Mathew of Ohio, granddaughter Sara of Ohio and two great-grandsons Davin and David, one great granddaughter Jorja, sisters Marlyn Stapleton, Judy (Bill) Hullet, Nancy (Tom) Phylaw and nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Joe and Jennie, four brothers-in-law Jack, Bill and Albert Morsett and Les Stapleton, and two sisters-in-law, Ida Kirkhart and Mildred Pinney.

Cremation has been chosen and a memorial service will be held at a later date.
Chamberlain-Pier Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
