Obituary for Kandy Dierksen
Kandy Dierksen, born on October 31, 1964, in Chadron, Nebraska, passed away surrounded by the love of her family. A bright light in the lives of all who knew her, Kandy was the beloved daughter of Donald and Joelle Koralewski. She graduated from Gering High School in 1983 and soon after began a journey of love and purpose that would define her life.
In 1988, Kandy met the love of her life, Brent Dierksen. They were married on September 21, 1991, a union that brought deep joy and strength to both of their lives. Together, they raised four beautiful children: Mitchell, Hunter, Brock, and Chloe. Though they also endured the heartbreaking loss of a child at birth, Kandy carried the spirit of that child with her always, her love stretching beyond what the eyes could see.
Kandy was a woman of immense heart and depth—a soul both strong and beautiful. She brought laughter and stories into every room she entered, always eager to listen, to comfort, and to connect. Her home was a place of warmth, where conversations flowed endlessly and laughter often echoed into the night. Her family and friends knew her as a woman of compassion, humor, and resilience, whose energy lifted others even as her own body grew tired.
She was the kind of mother who celebrated your joys louder than anyone else, who gave of herself completely to those she loved. Whether it was a late-night talk, a moment of celebration, or a simple “how was your day,” Kandy was fully present—always excited to hear your story, always offering a kind word or a shoulder to lean on.
Kandy’s memory will live on through the lives she touched, the lessons she shared, and the love she gave so freely. Her legacy is one of strength, joy, and unconditional love.
Tribute from Her Husband, Brent Dierksen
From the first time I met Kandy in 1988, I knew she was something special. She had a spark, a light that made you feel seen and understood. Marrying her in 1991 was the greatest decision of my life. Together, we built a life full of love, laughter, and a deep, unshakeable bond. She was my partner in everything—raising our kids, navigating challenges, and building a home that was filled with life and warmth.
Kandy was more than a wife—she was my best friend, my biggest supporter, and the heart of our family. Watching her give so much of herself to our children, to friends, and even to strangers, reminded me every day how lucky I was to walk through life by her side. I miss her beyond words, but I carry her with me in everything I do.
Tribute from Her Son, Hunter
My mom was one of the most caring, kind-hearted people I’ve ever known. She gave everything she had to the people she loved—and even more to those who needed her. No matter what was going on in your life, she was there to listen. And once she started talking, she wouldn’t stop—her stories, her laughter, her energy, it was endless.
She had this amazing ability to get more excited about your good news than you did. Whether it was a game, a new job, or just a fun weekend, she’d light up just hearing about it. She kept giving, even when her body was failing. That’s the kind of person she was—strong, loving, and full of life.
Tribute from Her Son, Brock
She had a strong, beautiful soul. There was something about Mom that just made everything better. She brought peace, laughter, and strength into our home. Even when life was hard, she never gave up. Her love ran deep and she made sure we knew it every single day.
Tribute from Her Daughter, Chloe
My mom was honestly one of the funniest people I knew. She always had a story to tell—usually a long one—and she could make anyone laugh. But more than that, she was someone I could always talk to, no matter what. She understood me. She made me feel safe, and loved, and heard.
She was the best kind of mom. And even though I miss her every day, I know she’s still with me—in every laugh, every story, and every memory.
