Joyce Ann Franzen (Williams), known as Joycee, Mom, Grammy, Gigi, age 83 of Higginsville, Missouri went peacefully to be with the Lord on Thursday, March 6, 2025, at Riverbend Heights Health & Rehabilitation in Lexington, Missouri. Although heartbroken, we are at peace knowing she is with her Savior.
She was born as a twin with her sister, Judy Porch on Thursday, May 22, 1941 in Gordon, NE to the late Fred Williams and the late Josephine (Petrik) Williams. Joyce attended high school in Martin, SD and graduated from her class as Valedictorian. She started her career in Omaha, NE and went on to become the Executive Secretary for the Vice President of the Treasury of AT&T. She married Bill Franzen and they had a beautiful life together with her daughter, Darcy and Bill's daughters, LeeAnn and Laura.
Bill accepted a transfer to New York and they moved to New Jersey. Bill passed away at the age of 45. Joyce stayed in NJ and retired after 32 years. She enjoyed her church and singing in the choir, sewing, crocheting, knitting, painting beautiful pictures and loved her NY Yankees. She was an avid golfer and bowler as well.
Joyce had a wonderful companion for the last 30 years in NJ - Bob (Oh Bob) Frederick. She moved to Higginsville, MO at 80 years old to be with her family.
She is survived by her daughter, Darcy (Robert) Aversman of Higginsville; two step-daughters, LeeAnn (Mike) Kraft, Laura (John) Mullen; three grandchildren, Brandon (Rebecca) Baxter of Odessa, MO, Ashley (Cody) Narron of Higginsville, Blayke Baxter (Brody Ruprecht) of Columbia, MO; four great-grandchildren, twins Baylor and Brylee Baxter, Brody and Rowdy Narron.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Bill; two sisters, Iris McQue and Judy Porch.
Memorial services with interment will be held in Martin, SD in the spring.
