Memorial services for Joy Isham, also known as Eleanor Joy (Norman) Isham will be held at the Grace Episcopal Church in Chadron, 450 Bordeaux St on Thursday, May 5, 2016 at 4:00 PM with Father John Adams and Dr. Russ Seger officiating.
She brought Joy to the world, but she left it on April 27, 2016. Eleanor Joy Norman was born October 26, 1928, the sixth of seven children born to Harry and LaRue Norman. She attended country school outside of Whitney and high school in Crawford, Nebraska. She graduated from the University of Nebraska in 1950 where she was a member of Delta Gamma.
She married Robert Isham of Chadron in 1950. They were ranchers and bankers for their entire lives. Joy was on the board of directors of the First National Bank of Gordon in 1962 and was elected Chairman of the board upon Bob's death in 1994. Joy was the most energetic woman and wore many other hats. She was a children's choir director, a Sunday school teacher, an elementary school teacher, a polio survivor, and pet lover and the life of any party. She will be greatly missed by all who knew her.
She is survived by her five children: Julie Jennings, (Bill) of Lone Tree, CO, Glory Burns (Mike) of Fort Collins, CO, Robin Isham of Templeton, CA, Andrea Voss (Galen) of Chadron, and Will Isham of Gordon. She had eight grandchildren, William Jennings, Scottsdale, AZ, Matthew Jennings (Erica) Denver, CO, Jay Voss, (Jessamyn) Gordon, NE, Cornilius Ray (Tatyana), Denver,CO, Drew Isham, Fort Worth, TXS, Joy Voss, Chadron, NE Nick and Rob Burns, Steamboat Springs, CO. She also had five great grandchildren and two more on the way.
Memorial donations may be made to the Joy Isham Fund for the Grace Episcopal Church. Donations may be sent to the First National Bank in Gordon, PO Box 290, Gordon, NE 69343.
