John Skelton

John Thomas Skelton passed away at the age of 69 on September 13, 2023 at the Chadron Community Hospital due to several health issues.

John was born in Van Nuys, CA. He moved with his parents, sister and nephews to Chadron in 1985. John easily took to the Chadron way of life. He worked at the Chadron State College for several years in dietary and did odd jobs. His favorite job was collecting firewood to sell. His last business venture was with his long time friend Darrol Roberts or as John called him "Deany". They could be seen around town always together. Johns' love of animals was heightened by country living. He enjoyed watching old TV shows and movies in the winter.

He was preceded in death by his parents and nephew Jason Smith. He is survived by his sister Phyllis (Richard) Kinsley of Omaha, NE; his brother Vern Alluis of Roy, UT. Nephews; Jack (Kim) Smith of Omaha, NE, Richard Allius and children of Roy, UT , niece Heather Alluis and children of Roy, UT. Great nieces  nieces Katelyn (David) Smith and son Owen of  Washington DC, Ashley Smith and her daughter Olivia of Omaha, NE and nephew Mac Smith of Omaha, NE. Close friend Darrol Roberts and his daughters' Sally Roberts and Deana Gausman of Chadron, NE.

Memorial Services will be held at Chamberlain Chapel on Thursday September 21, 2023 at 10:00 am. Inurnment will follow services to Greenwood Cemetery.

In lieu of flower's memorial have been established for Chadron Volunteer Fire Department. Donations and memorials may be sent in care of Chamberlain Chapel, P.O. Box 970 Chadron, NE 69337.
