Jeannette Gabel, 60, of Hay Springs, NE passed suddenly after a short but fierce battle with cancer. She was born in Carson City, NV, grew up in Chadron, NE, and also lived in Sidney, NE and Hay Springs, NE – where combined, she worked as a nurse for over 45 years. Jeannette was always humorously honest, an unapologetic over-sharer, and was a powerful force. She lived her life always putting others’ needs and wants before her own. She loved music, writing, peanut butter M&Ms, and animals. She used to raise Dalmatians, and as a child aspired to be a zookeeper. A natural caretaker, she would do anything for her friends and family.
Jeannette is survived by her mother Loretta Henkens, children Shane Marron and Brianna Rowe, grandchildren Willa Marron and Beckett Rowe, and her siblings Donald Osborn, Theresa Blausey, Stephen Osborn, and Anna Schmidt. Jeannette was also an aunt, mother in-law, and friend.
Private family funeral services will be held Monday, Nov 16, 2020 at 2:00 PM at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Chadron with Father Todd Philipsen officiating.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial has been established. Donations can be sent to Chamberlain Chapel, PO Box 970, Chadron, NE 69337.
