Jaxon Alexander James May was born on December 5, 2022, in Chadron, Nebraska, to Colbi Wolkins and Vincent May. Jaxon came home from the hospital to see a very excited big sister, Presley Wolkins. Jaxon was at home with mom, dad, and big sister for exactly one week before he got sick. At just 7 days old Jaxon started to show us how strong he was and just how much he wanted to be here.
Jaxon turned 9 days old and that is when Dave and Anpo Charging Thunder put their lives on the line to get Jaxon where he needed to be to survive. On December 15, 2022, at just 10 days old with mommy by his side Jaxon arrived at the Children's Hospital Colorado Anschutz Medical Campus in Aurora, Colorado, where he spent the remainder of his life before passing away on April 18, 2023, at 4 ½ months old. Cassie Banks met us at the hospital before Jaxon was even fully admitted. Jaxon spent 124 days in Colorado at the hospital fighting to stay with us every step of the way.
Jaxon was a very happy baby even with everything he was fighting, including starting dialysis at just barely 2 weeks old. Jaxon loved his big sister Presley and always lit up so brightly when she was able to come visit him with mom, dad and memaw. Jaxon loved it when mommy would hold him and sing to him and when daddy would watch wrestling with him. He also very much enjoyed being read to and was not at all afraid to voice his feelings if he wanted everyone’s attention. Jaxon was the favorite of the hospital and all his nurses fought over who was going to take care of him.
Jaxon was very loved, and he knew it. Jaxon was and always will be our rainbow baby and we will always be grateful for the very short 4 months we had with him!
