Funeral Services for Janette Anderson of Chadron, Nebraska will be held Friday, December 17, 2021 at 10:00 AM at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Chadron, Nebraska. Burial will be held at Calvary Cemetery in Chadron, Nebraska. A Vigil will be held Thursday, December 16, 2021 at 7:00 PM at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Chadron, Nebraska.
Janette Marie Anderson “Grandma Ette” was born May 23, 1943 to Paul and Agnes Meier in Bowdle, South Dakota. She passed away on December 9, 2021 at the age of 78 surrounded by her loving husband of 59 years and her children.
Janette graduated from Igloo High School, SD, class of 1961 and married her high school sweetheart, Ken, on June 16, 1962. They started their life together in Chadron, NE where they welcomed their first daughter Lori. Shortly thereafter, they moved to Newcastle, WY and then Scottsbluff, NE where their second daughter Brenda was born. In 1971 they moved back to Chadron, NE and called this their home for the remainder of their time together. Their family was completed after they welcomed their son, Bryce.
Janette worked as a clerk for Ben Franklin for several years before starting a daycare. Janette had a gift and love of caring for children in her community. Over the years she cared for numerous children and touched many lives with her loving care and homemade cookies. Janette enjoyed baking, game night, reading, spending time with family and was a long-standing member of St. Patrick’s Catholic Church.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by by her infant son, Paul Joseph, and sister Paulette Mitchell. She leaves behind her husband, Ken, daughter Lori (Dean) Mettler, Brighton, CO, daughter Brenda (Mark) Mercer, Aurora, CO, son Bryce (Jessica) Anderson, Aurora, CO; grandchildren Alyssa (Jeff) Tolmich, Denver, CO, Nicole (Brandon) Hoff, Brighton, CO, Kaitlyn Mercer (Jackson), Salt Lake City, UT, Jaxson Mercer, Aurora, CO, Stella and Ashton Anderson, Aurora, CO; great grandchildren Collin Tolmich and Layla Hoff; siblings Paul Meier, Joyce Harrod, Becky Meier-Senst and Patty Rossknecht and numerous nieces and nephews.
A memorial has been established the Chadron Volunteer Fire Department or Alzheimer’s Association and donations may be sent in care of Chamberlain Chapel, PO BOX 970, CHADRON, NE 69337.
