James Henry Harper, 58, of Crawford, NE went how to be with his heavenly father on August 21, 2015 at Chadron Community Hospital. He was born December 12, 1956 in Santa Cruz, California. As a youngster, he lived in a small coastal town of Davenport, California. Davenport's nickname, "A Whale of a Town." Before school age the Harper family moved to White House Canyon, California. James attended Pescadero Elementary School and graduated from Pescadero High in June 1975. After high school he attended Cabrillo College in Soquel, California. Jim worked in the computer field for several years as a quality control inspector and technician. He was a member of Calvary Chapel Church in Capitola, California. After moving to Crawford, Nebraska on May 2, 2014 he joined Christ Community Church of Crawford. Jim loved God and was very knowledgeable on the bible. He enjoyed intercessory prayer every Wednesday and never missed a Sunday at church unless due to bad weather. Jim was always willing to help others. He was a very loving, gentle, quiet man with a big heart. He loved family time, especially with the children, nieces, nephews, and church family. Jim enjoyed talking, laughing, joking, and BBQs. He would always say "Just show the steak to the flame and it's done." That's a memory! Proceeding Jim in death was his father James Curtis Harper on June 19th, 1989. Survivors include: his mother, Elta Harper of Belmont, Nebraska; Sister Elizabeth (Larry) Castro of Belmont, Nebraska; niece Sarah (Jordan) Ralen, Shawn, and Jaclyn of Chadron, Nebraska; Niece Ashley (Josh) Goff, Chloe and Aiden of Rapid City, South Dakota. Brother Chuck (Christine Harper, Joseph and Julia of White House Canyon, California. Aunt Alverda Orlando of Capitola, California. Cousins Rosemarie Holbert and family of Visalia, California, Lucia Quann and Family of Santa Cruz, California, Louisa Haddad and family of Santa Cruz, California. Services will be held Saturday, September 12, 2015 at 2:00 PM at Christ Community church in Crawford, NE with Pastor Steve Mallory officiating.�½�½
