Ivy Waggener

June 2, 2025 — February 8, 2015

Ivy Waggener was born in Poynton, England to Joseph and Emma Lewis on June 2, 1925. She had four brothers and three sisters. During WWII she worked at a button factory and sang with a big band. She met the love of her life, John D. Waggener, and married June 1944. Ivy came to America on the Queen Mary in 1946 and became a proud "naturalized" American in 1947. Ivy lived in Chadron with her husband, John, for 42 years before he passed in 1988. The loving couple had two children, Darrel Lynn in 1950 and Denise Marie in 1954. Ivy was first and foremost an unconditionally loving Wife, Mother, and Nana. John and Ivy shared a passion for music and played in several Country Western bands over the years. John was a drummer and Ivy sang. They soon had their daughter Denise playing drums also. They played in Western Nebraska, Southwestern South Dakota, and Eastern Wyoming. The family kept four horses on a small acreage west of Chadron. They were members of the Rim Rock Riders Association. John and Ivy were members of the Elks Club, Legion Club, Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW), and the Eagles Club. They had a wonderful social life. Ivy moved to Colorado in 2007 to live with her son and his wife Darrel and Pam Waggener. She was able to see her granddaughters often and loved and played with the grandsons. She could play cars and make noises with the best of the boys. She passed peacefully at Medical Center of the Rockies Sunday February 8th. Ivy is survived by her sister Jean Walker from England; her son Darrel Waggener in Colorado; her four grandchildren Sean Waggener from Chadron, Nebraska, Carissa Johnson from Denver, Colorado, Michelle Waggener from Windsor, Colorado, and Rebecca Waggener from Denver, Colorado; and eight great-grandchildren, Logan, Kade, Jonathon, and Joel from Chadron, Nebraska; Brandon and Dominick from Denver, Colorado, and Keagan and Preston from Windsor, Colorado. Ivy was preceded in death by her parents, Joseph and Emma Lewis; siblings, Frank Lewis, Florence Armstrong, Joe Lewis, Doris Wagner, Kenneth Lewis, and Percy Lewis; husband, John Waggener; and daughter, Denise Waggener. Ivy had a full and happy life; this will be a celebration of that life. Services will be held at Chamberlain Chapel in Chadron, Nebraska on Saturday, February 14th at 10:00.
