Ila Mae Johnson

December 8, 1946 — September 17, 2024

Ila Mae Johnson (Muck) age 77, passed away peacefully at home in Loveland, Colo. on September 17, 2024.

Ila Mae was born to Everett and Ethel Muck on December 8, 1946, in Gordon, Neb. She grew up on the family farm south of Gordon, which is where she always found so much peace. She loved all of the farm animals-big and small-but her best friend was her dog Penny, whom she often spoke of. In her elementary years, she attended a little country school outside of Gordon and Gordon High School during her teen years. This is where she met Derald, fell in love, and they were married on June 23, 1963 at the First Presbyterian Church in Gordon. They lived in Gordon and raised their family in a small home on Ash Street that Derald’s dad and older brother Ronald had built. Over their years in Gordon, they had 4 children, Jerry, Becky, Lisa, and Amy. Ila Mae was a wonderful homemaker, gardener, and mother. She had one of the best gardens around town! In 1981, they made the decision to move their family to Loveland, Colo. which is where their wonderful surprise, their youngest daughter Michelle was born!

Ila Mae loved her kids, grandkids, pets, and Jesus with all of her heart! She had such a big and gentle heart! She would often set aside her own wants and needs for any of them.

Ila Mae is survived by her 5 children, Jerry Johnson (Xrisanthi) of Loveland, Colo., Becky (Nick) Brace of Johnstown, Colo., Lisa Harrison (Jim) of Berthoud, Colo., Amy Johnson of Loveland, Colo., and Michelle Johnson of Loveland, Colo. She is also survived by 12 grandchildren (listed in respective order): Aaron and Brittany Johnson; Chris Orr, Matt, Jeff and Nick Fredricey, Caleb Ferrara, Hannah Brace; Andrew Mock, Jordan Creager, Tanner Harrison; and Fiona Johnson. 11 great grandchildren (also respective order): Leo, Lilly, Charlotte and Isabella Johnson, Daniela Cardenas; Joseph and Blaine Orr, Gabriel Fredricey, Alder Fredricey; Charli Mae and Kinley Mock. Survived also by her sister Donna (Ron) Jensen of Gordon; brothers-in-law Ronald and Rodney (Cathy) Johnson, along with numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband Derald, grandson Mark Johnson, great-granddaughter Everly Ferrara, siblings Richard and Gary Muck and Judy Talbot, and nephews Curt Jensen and Marty Muck. Although Ila Mae’s final earthly battle was a long and difficult one, her life was full of much love and laughter. Her kind and gentle soul will be missed. We all look forward to being reunited in Heaven!

Psalm 23:6 “Surely goodness and love will follow me all the days of my life, and I will dwell in the house of the Lord forever.”

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on September 24, 2024, at the First Presbyterian Church in Gordon, Neb. Burial at Gordon Cemetery immediately after the service followed by a meal reception at the church.
