Gloria Weber was born September 1st, 1926 at Beatrice, NE to Clyde and Mildred Trudell Weber. She passed away on July 15th at Morning Star Assisted Living in Rapid City, SD. Gloria grew up on her family's ranch near Merriman. At a young age Gloria began to help with the large workload involved in running her family's cattle and hog business by helping with the cooking, feeding cattle and putting up hay each summer. Consequently Gloria's strong work ethic was forged at an early age. She attended the Merriman School. While in high school a handsome cowboy caught her eye and she asked her friends who he was. That cowboy was Dale Cady. They became high school sweethearts and got married in Gordon, NE as soon as they graduated. Gloria and Dale were given and survived a rambunctious chivaree given by their neighbors and friends after they were married which they never forgot. Gloria and Dale were blessed with three daughters; Linda Delgado, Gayle Cady and Deb Cady. A son, Bruce, died shortly after birth. They raised their daughters on ranches near Merriman. Together they built and maintained a very productive ranch which they worked together as a team to continually improve. Gloria managed to keep house, raise children and cook for her family and hired men while at the same time being Dale's "right hand man" for many years. She could often be seen herding cows in a pick up, driving the stacker during haying, running to town to get parts, working in her garden, canning produce from the garden or taking care of the wide range of miscellaneous livestock Dale and her daughters liked to bring home. Gloria loved being a sandhills ranch wife and had a true sandhills heart. Gloria also enjoyed spending time with relatives and friends and was involved in many community activities through the years. She was a member of the Rebecca Lodge, Methodist WSCS, Ambulance training and the Methodist Church Board for many years. Gloria was always ready to help out. She also enjoyed her bowling team, cards and many sandhills dances. Gloria lost Dale in February 1998. During her later years she enjoyed fishing on the Niobrara River and Merriman Lake, reading, taking trips with her family, putting together jig saw puzzles with her granddaughter, Paige, playing cards at the center, taking care of her dogs, and watching game shows and sports on TV with her son-in-law, John. Most of all she enjoyed her daughters and grandchildren. She was a devoted daughter, sister, friend, mother and grandmother and will be missed by many. Gloria is gratefully and lovingly remembered by: Don and Evelyn Weber of Brighton, CO, Bruce and Bonnie Weber of Sturgis, SD, Knight and Rose Weber of Joplin, MT, Linda Delgado and Charlotte Chase of Lincoln, NE, Frank Delgado of Lincoln, NE, John LeBoeuf and Gayle Cady of White River, SD, Deb Cady and Deb Anderson of Rapid City, SD, and her grandchildren Paige and Julia Cady-LeBoeuf and Chris and Robert Delgado and many nieces and nephews. Her family would like to acknowledge and give thanks for the exceptional care she received in her final months at the Morning Star Assisted Living residence.
