Garold W. "Toed" Smith passed away on Thursday, February 27, 2014 at his childhood home in Whitney, Nebraska doing what he loved, ranching and tending to the cows. He was born on April 21, 1936 to Lloyd George Smith and Myrtle Isabelle Seikert in Crawford, Nebraska. As a young boy he lived with his family on the ranch near Whitney and attended Hard Scrabble School District 84 and Crawford High School. While in high school, he was a member of the football team, the FFA, choir, and class plays. On August 24, 1958 he married Louella Marie Straub in Ogallala, Nebraska. The couple lived there until moving in 1960 to Fort Gordon, Georgia while Garold served in the Army. He enjoyed ranching, playing with his dog Jessie, going to church, visiting with friends at the local legion, and sharing time with his grandchildren. He took great and caring pleasure in his family, friends and the church. He was preceded in death by his son Rick Smith, his sister Bev Clark, his brother Leroy Smith, his parents Lloyd and Myrtle Smith and his step mother Frieda Smith. His survivors include his wife Louella of Whitney, his son Terry Smith, his sister Karen, his daughter in law Jolynn, and his grandchildren Jeff, Nicki, Zach and Bowen all of Denver.
