Fraunie Taylor

July 12, 1924 — August 17, 2016

"Lou" was born July 12, 1924 in Hope, Arkansas. She was the seventh child in a family of 15 children. She had 7 brothers and 7 sisters. Her parents were Samuel and Cora (Ross) Hartsfield.

She graduated high school in Blevins, Arkansas. She graduated Cosmetology College in Little Rock, Arkansas. While there she met a solider Kyle Taylor from Nebraska.

At age 17, she left home on a train, traveled several days, and was bumped many times because the military traveled first. When she arrived in Sand Diego, CA no one was there to meet her so she walked to her sister's home by herself carrying all her belongings.

Lou trained and worked at California Shipbuilding Corporation as a 3 plate welder until the end of World War II.

Following the war, she boarded another train, raveled to Gordon, NE and married her solider Kyle Taylor. They lived in Gordon and Chadron and had two daughters Tanna and Kay.

Fraunie was a homemaker. She was an accomplished seamstress and served the public for many years.

She enjoyed bowling on the Thursday afternoon Coffee league, her flowers, traveling, her church and later playing games with her great grandchildren who called her "G.G"

Survivors include her daughters Tanna (Larry) Percy of Pendleton, OR and Kay (Larry) Allen of Grand Island. She also has grandchildren Mark (Gail) Percy, Jason (Amy) Percy, Kimberly (Brent) Erickson, Suzanne (Ken) Hartman and Jarrod (Dayna) Allen; 10 great grandchildren Cody, Ethan & Kyle Percy, Paige & Hailey Erickson, Peter, Sam, Nathan Hartman, and Mason & Zach Allen. Three sisters, Flossie, Fern Nell, and Flora; One brother Forrest Dale and many nieces and nephews.

Preceding her in death was her husband Kyle, her parents, sisters Freida, Fay, Frances and Floye May, Brother Frank, Finley, Fred, Felton, Foy Allen and Floyd Ray; Sisters-in-law Margaret Jensen and Wilma Fitton.

Fraunie had lived a good and long life. She said "She was packed and ready to go on to the best trip ever."

She was 92.

A memorial has been established for the Baptist Church in Chadron or the Chadron Senior Citizens Center. Donations may be sent to Chamberlain Chapel, PO Box 970, Chadron, NE 69337.
