Frances Irene Anderson
Frances Young, 99, of Hay Springs, passed away on December 19, 2017 at Pioneer Manor Nursing Home. Funeral Services will be held on Wednesday, December 27, 2017 at 10 AM at the United Methodist Church in Hay Springs with Pastor Paul Smith officiating. Visitations will be held on Tuesday, December 26, 2017 from 7:00 PM to 8:30 PM at the United Methodist Church in Hay Springs.
Frances Irene Anderson, Vannatta, Young was born on May 19, 1918 in Hay Springs, Nebraska to Wallace Jacob Anderson and Myrtle Iva Moore Anderson. She was the oldest of six children. All attended the country school near them thru eighth grade. Frances attended four years of high school in Hay Springs and graduated from Hay Springs. She lived all her 99 years in the Hay Springs area.
Frances married Lawrence Vannatta on August 6, 1938. To this union she had three children: Donald (Pete), Colleen (Sis), and Lenora (Butchie). On March 5, 1953, Frances married Allen Young. To this union she had two sons: Bryan and Dale.
Frances worked at Stiehls General Store for over six years than at Preble Nursing Home. She also worked at the Rushville Hospital as an aide and many years at Pioneer Manor Nursing Home. Frances cleaned the Methodist Church and cared for Ruby Seery for several years.
After moving to town from her father's farm, she worked out of the home and boarded high school girls the first three years and later high school boys for several years.
Frances was a devoted member of the Veteran of Foreign War Ladies Auxiliary serving in several of the offices. Frances was a member of the Rebekah Lodge and a member of the Methodist Church and loved to go to their Bible study.
Our Mather was a wonderful mother, cook, and homemaker. She never knew what ir was to say no to hard work to make ends meet. When she could no longer live at home she went to Pioneer Manor Nursing Home in April 2012.
Frances was preceded in death by her parents, sister Doris, brothers Charles and Ivan, daughter in law Janice Vannatta, son-in-law Gerald Frimann, grandchildren Sandra and Glenn Vannatta, brother-in-law- Henry Shumway, sisters-in-law Patricia Anderson and Mary Ann Anderson.
Survivors are sons Donald (Pete) and Mary Vannatta, Bryan (Beverly) Young, Dale (Maria) Young, daughters Coleen (Sis) Frimann, and Lenora (Butchie) Joe Johnson. Sister Myrtle Shumway, brother Donald Anderson, sisters-in-law Virginia Anderson and Phyllis Anderson. Sixteen grandchildren, thirty great-grandchildren, and six great-great grandchildren, numerous cousins, nieces, nephews, friends, and special roommate Carol Nelson at Pioneer Manor Nursing Home.
A memorial has been established for remodeling at Pioneer Manor Nursing Home or Hay Spring Methodist Church. Donation may be sent to Chamberlain Drabbles Mortuary, PO Box 443, Hay Springs, NE 69347.
