Floyd Waggener

February 15, 1922 — December 6, 2024

Floyd Henry Waggener (Bud) was born on February 15, 1922, in Missouri Valley, Iowa along with his identical twin Lloyd. There would be eleven Waggener children for Alonzo and Elizabeth. Dad Said, “they had everything but money”.

The twins decided to join the Army Air Corp after the Bombing of Pearl Harbor. Not having good enough eyesight to be pilots, they trained to be Aircraft mechanics.

The twin was shipped to the South Pacific theatre visiting various islands like New Caledonia, Philippines, New Guinea and even Australia. They were in the 13th troop carrier Squadron.

After attending Chadron State College for a short period Floyd worked for Prey Chevrolet as a Mechanic but kept trying to get on the C&NW railroad. As news of the Berlin Airlift started, Floyd used his experience as a C-47 (DC-3) mechanic to obtain a job in California keeping the planes in flying condition. Upon returning to Chadron Floyd got on full time on the railroad serving as a brakeman/conductor for 45 years.

Floyd married Mildred ( Milly Lecher in 1947. They had two sons, Larry and Donald. Brother Lloyd married in 1946 ( Betsy) and had a son Dennis and A daughter Susan. Lloyd passed away in 1998.

Floyd lived to be 102 plus 9 months plus 21 days, a family record. Bless him.

He is survived by Larry, Donald and wife Linda and Kelly and Jacqualine & Cary and their 3 children Nickolas, Kennedy and Cameron.

Floyd was an ordinary guy who got along with most people, worked hard and loved his large family. He will be truly missed!
