Emory (Bob) Clay Dunn, was born June 3, 1926, in Harrison County, Kentucky to William and Mary Alice Dunn. He passed away July 12, 2017, at Gordon Countryside Care.
He joined the Army in 1944 and served during WWII. His ship was torpedoed and sank. Bob was honorably discharged with a Purple Heart in 1946. After returning home he met the love of his life, Ruth E. Lawson. They were married in September of 1949, and moved to Reno, Nevada, where he worked as a mechanic. He went to work for International Harvester as a mechanic and worked up to Branch Manager. He retired from International Harvester in 1981 as Regional Manager and purchased his own International Harvester Dealership until his retirement in 1987.
Bob enjoyed fishing, camping and in these last years he had a love of gardening and flowers. Above all he enjoyed his family. His love for God was exemplified by his life and service to the Church.
Bob was preceded in death by his wife Ruth, of 57 years.
He is survived by a sister in Kentucky and a brother in Nevada, also surviving are two daughters and a son, Joan White of Hedrick, Iowa, Carol Tiensvold (Alan) of Rushville, Nebraska and Dave Dunn of Reno, Nevada, six grandchildren; Wade Tiensvold (Karina) of Montana, Jason (Dawnette) Tiensvold of Nebraska, Christina (Bill) Leach of Iowa, Kelli (Tracy) Fye of Iowa, J.D. Dunn of Nevada and Karessa Dunn of Nevada, six great-grandchildren, Ashley, Lisa, Arielle, Devin, Tony and Trevor, and one great-great grandchild Brandlynn.
Services were held Saturday July 15, 2017, 10:00 AM at Chamberlain-Pier Funeral Home, Gordon, Nebraska, with Pastor Bill Combs officiating. Inurnment with Military Honors will be held at Fairview Cemetery, Rushville, NE.
