Dorothy Coomes

Dorothy E. Coomes, 71, of Rushville, Nebraska, died March 11, 2016 at Gordon Memorial Hospital.

She was born April 18, 1944 to Paul and Doris (Stansbury) Kearns in Rushville, Nebraska. She graduated from Rushville High School in Rushville, Nebraska.

Dorothy was co-owner and operator of D-D's Boutique for 24 years. She later worked for the Veteran's Service Office for 21 years until her retirement in 2011.

Throughout her life, she enjoyed gardening, crocheting, embroidering, shopping and most of all, spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchild, many close friends, family and her beloved pets.

She will be remembered, as a wonderful, loving mother and grand- mother to her children and grandchildren. Dorothy was a loyal life-long friend to many. Her home was the "Hub" of many gatherings throughout the years because of her warm hospitality and amazing cooking.

Survivors include her children, Chane (Moira) Coomes of Manderson, SD, Keith Coomes of Rushville, NE, Colette (Brian) Snyder of Rushville, NE. 6 grandchildren Corbin, Catelyn, Kendrick, Cole, Riley and Tegan and 1 great-grandson Colden. Siblings Barbara (Stan) Morin, Lloyd (Sharon) Kearns, Kathy (Dave) Eaton, Floyd "Buster" Kearns, Larry Kearns.

She was proceeded in death by her parents.

A Mass of Christian Burial was held Wednesday March 16, 2016, 10:00 AM, at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Rushville, NE. Burial was held at St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery, Rushville, NE.
The family has established a memorial for the Sheridan County Veterans Service Aid and donations may be sent in care of Chamberlain-Pier Funeral Home, PO Box 366, NE 69343.
