Mrs. Franklin B. Gilmore, age 104, died February 17, 2014, in Crawford, Nebraska. She was born Doris Jane Duhart December 21, 1909, in Bay Ridge, Brooklyn, New York. She moved with her parents, at the age of 4, to Port Allegany, PA, where her father, Armat Lee Duhart, was the manager of the Mississippi Glass Company. The family lived for many years at 211 Arnold Avenue. She married Franklin B. Gilmore on Armistice Day in Wellsboro, PA. They resided in Port Allegany, PA, where Franklin was the lawyer for North Penn Gas Company. They had two children, Franklin Black Junior and Gay Colleen. Doris was an avid horse lover and showed both 3 and 5 gated horses into her late 70's. She enjoyed operas, swimming, and traveling. She traveled between Port Allegany and Delray Beach, Florida yearly; until finally moving to Florida in her late 80's. She was a member of the Valley Hunt Club and the Penn Hills Country Club In 2005, she moved to Prairie Pines Lodge, Chadron, NE, to be near her daughter. After breaking her leg, her final move was to Ponderosa Villa in May 2012. She was preceded in death by her parents and her five younger siblings: Armat Frederick Duhart, Clarita Adele Heydrick, Roy Semler Duhart, and Harry Lee Duhart and their spouses. Her son, Franklin, died at age 7. Her husband Franklin also preceded her in death. She is survived by her daughter, Gay Gilmore Metz, and her husband, Edward Metz, her grandsons: Timothy Gilmore-Metz and Franklin Gilmore-Metz, granddaughters: Barb ( Clyde) Franklin, Joanne (Harvard) Hitchcock, and Donna Metz, six great grandchildren, and three great great grandchildren.
