Donna Lou Hood née Myers, of Rushville, NE, died Monday, April 29, 2024 at Gordon Memorial Hospital, surrounded by her family, following a short illness. Born August 1932 in Rushville, NE to Roy and Edna Myers, Donna married Kenneth Hood at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Rushville on June 19, 1955. The couple lived in rural Alliance, NE, for 15 years prior to returning to Rushville in November of 1969.
A graduate of Rushville High School, Donna taught at several rural schools prior to marriage. A lifelong member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Rushville, Donna served in the Ladies Aid and many other church related activities. Also an avid reader, Donna always had a book and her daily devotions queued up on her Kindle.
Out of all the memberships, activities and groups Donna was involved with, her favorite role was being called ‘grandma’. A loving grandmother, her six grandkids have countless fond memories including cooking their favorite dishes and tending a large garden with her. Donna was her grandkids number one fan and biggest supporter. She was often found attending sporting events, dance
recitals, 4H-activities and had many photos of her grandkids filling spaces throughout her house.
Survivors include two daughters, Alice (David) Otte, of Gordon (NE), A and Rhonda (Jim) Seybert of Arroyo Grande (CA); one son, Neal (Cathy) Hood of Gordon (NE); her six grandchildren, Aaron Otte of Idaho Springs (CO), Noelle Seybert of Denver (CO), Kayla Otte of Denver (CO), Taylor Hood of Rushville, Samuel Hood of Gordon, and Matthew Hood of Gordon.
She was preceded in death by her husband Kenneth Hood, her parents Roy and Edna Myers, and her siblings Eleanor Moore, and Kenneth Myers.
