Dee Ann Rosane

Rapid City - Dee Ann (Sargent) Rosane, 63, passed away peacefully in her favorite chair in her home in Rapid City on March 7, 2017.

She was born January 7, 1954 to Floyd and Ruth Sargent in Broken Bow, NE, and grew up in Bennett County, SD. She attended Central School, then BCHS when the family moved into Martin, SD. Dee Ann participated in 4-H, making baked goods and craft items for entry at the county fair and other competitions. She enjoyed riding horses.

Dee Ann served as a Past Honored Queen in Job's Daughters in Martin, as well as a past Worthy Matron of the Order of the Eastern Star chapter in Gordon, NE.

After high school, she married Douglas Rosane and they moved to Gordon, NE. Daughter Jennifer was born June 12, 1984. Later, they bought the KOA Campground near Hot Springs, SD, which Dee Ann managed for 7 years. After their marriage ended, Dee Ann owned and operated Gold "N" Dreams, her own retail gift shop in Hot Springs for several years, then moved to Rapid City. She worked in retail stores for the rest of her career, including at Sears, Herberger's and Walmart, as a customer service and management associate. Dee Ann was often recognized for excellent service and customer care by management, her peers and customers. She liked helping people.

Dee Ann was an excellent cook and baker. She enjoyed making quilts and making useful things with beautifully sewn patterns. She began collecting as a young adult, gathering over 40 Anniversary Barbies. She always shared her home with the dogs and cats she loved.

Dee Ann was always glad to see you, always had a smile, always remembered your birthday with a card, and enjoyed giving what she could, including a hug. Dee Ann always conducted herself with an

incredible level of strength and tenacity. This was seen in the cute, blonde, curly-haired little 2 ½-year old who needed glasses to the strong, independent woman of adulthood. She addressed struggles in life with a smile, a laugh, an ease with strangers and friends and with a deep caring for others. She enjoyed people and worked quietly alongside expecting their best.

She is survived by her daughter Jennifer Rosane, Tempe, AZ, siblings Ronald Sargent, Custer, SD, Barbara (Dave) Sargent-Hamilton, La Veta, CO, Roy Sargent, Lafayette, CO and Ken Sargent, Westminster, CO. Also by nieces Kristi Sargent, Newport Beach, CA, Isabella and Sophia Sargent, Westminster, SD and nephews Cory (Lauryn) Sargent, Ouray, CO, KC Sargent, Colorado Springs, CO, Andy and Dan Sargent, Lafayette, CO. She was preceded in death by her parents Floyd and Ruth Sargent.

There is a memorial established supporting several of Dee Ann's favorite causes. Donations may be sent in care of Bennett County Funeral Home, Box 65, Martin, SD 57551.

There will be an informal gathering at the Millstone Family Restaurant, 1520 N. Lacrosse Street, Rapid City on Saturday, March 25th at 2 PM. A memorial service will be held at Lindsey Memorial Presbyterian Church in Martin, SD on April 8 at 10:30 AM with a luncheon following.
