Warren Dean Kreitman, 74 years old passed away Sunday March 18th at Rapid Regional Hospital. He was born July 4th, 1943 to Marvin and Polly Kreitman in Madison, NE. They moved to Rock County when he was 2 years old. He attended a country school and then Rock County High where he graduated in 1962. He spent many hours in the hay fields, stacking hay from a young boy till after high school, he then ranched with his folks.
On September 14th, 1963 he married Faye Kepler in Bassett, NE. where a daughter Cindi and a son Marvin were born. After living on the ranch for 5 years they moved to Minnesota and owned a dairy farm which they traded for a small town cafe in 1979. In 1990 they bought the Hacienda Restaurant, Motel and Lounge in Gordon, NE. After 10 years of owning the Hacienda he & Faye retired and moved back to Central Minnesota. After six months of retirement Dean decided it was not for him and for the next 8 years owned and operated 2 motels in Montevideo and Jackson MN. In 2008 Dean was ready to retire & moved to their cabin by Upsala, MN where they lived for 6 years.
In 2014 they moved into their home east of Gordon. In 2014 he was diagnosed with Pulmonary Fibrosis. With medication he was able to live life normally visiting with family and friends, until the last week.
Dean enjoyed hunting, traveling, and spending time with friends and family especially his grand kids and great grand kids.
He was preceded in death by his parents, mother-in-law, and many aunts, uncles, and cousins.
Survivors include his wife Faye, daughter Cindi (Scott) Smith of Eden Prairie, MN, son Marvin (Lynn) Kreitman of Gordon. Six grandchildren, Jessica (Jake) Andrews of Lincoln, Mike (Karen) Kreitman of Gordon, Michaela (Moz) Smith of Portland Oregon, Allee (David) Berndgen of Minnetonka, MN, Ty Kreitman of Lincoln, and Madison Dean Smith of Eden Prairie, MN. Three great grandchildren, Mason and Avery Kreitman, and Claire Andrews. Two sisters, Shirley (Ambrose) Throener of Little Falls, MN, and Winnie (Leroy) Luebke of Gordon. Many nephews, nieces, and cousins.
Services will be held Friday March 23, 2018, 11:00 AM at Chamberlain-Pier Funeral Home in Gordon, Nebraska. Services will also be held Saturday March 24, 2018, 2:00 PM (MT) at the Madison Arts Center in Madison, Nebraska with burial to follow in the Crown Hill Cemetery, Madison, Nebraska.
In lieu of flowers a memorial for the Gordon Senior Center has been establihsed and donations may be sent in care of Chamberlain-Pier Funeral Home, PO Box 366, Gordon, NE 69343.
