Darrel Charles Leistritz
Darrel Charles Leistritz, 87, of Antioch, NE, died Monday, October 23 at Good Samaritan.
He was born September 10, 1930 at Antioch, NE to Charles and Gladys Leistritz. Darrel grew up on the family ranch south of Antioch and attended grade school at Antioch. He attended and graduated high school at Curtis, NE.
In 1952 Darrel was drafted into the Army. He served from May 14, 1952 until May 13, 1954. He was stationed in Detroit, MI where he fired artillery over Lake Michigan.
Upon his discharge from the Army he returned to the family ranch where he spent his life raising cattle. In his younger years, Darrel was active in the local trap club and enjoyed shooting trap. Darrel could often be found playing pitch with his nephew and sister in the evenings. He enjoyed playing poker and blackjack also. Darrel enjoyed having friends out to hunt and had many friends that came back over the years to hunt antelope and deer.
Darrel is survived by his wife, Darcy and son Logan of Antioch. His children from his first marriage, daughter, Lisa (Allen) Bright of Alliance, NE, their Daughter Abby (Hadley) Elder, son, Gerald (Sherrie) Leistritz of Alliance, NE, their Children Sara (John) Ferringer, Andrew (Sherry) Leistritz, and Jeff Leistritz, and daughter, Jana Leistritz of Bridgeport, NE, along with 8 great grand-children.
He was preceded in death by his parents, infant brother, brother and two sisters.
Funeral services will be held Monday,October 30, 2017 at 10:30 am at the Methodist Church in Lakeside NE. There will be a private family scattering of the ashes on the ranch to follow.
