Dannis Robinson, 84, died January 6, 2021 after a short fight with cancer.
Born in Oroville, Washington, the first child of Norris and Charlotte (Billups) Robinson; he lived his childhood years in the Okanogan Valley where he and his family worked the apple orchards.
In 1953, Dannis married his school days sweetheart, Betty Draper and then joined the USAF. They had 2 children prior to their divorce in 1958: Gary Todd and Karen (Todd) Gallant.
In 1959 while stationed at Ellsworth AFB in Rapid City, Dannis found the love of his life and future bride Marilyn Urwin of Chadron, Nebraska, to whom he married 8 months later on June 1, 1960. They had 2 children: Donna (Robinson) Dabson and David Robinson.
After leaving the Air Force in 1963, the family lived in Gordon and Chadron, NE before moving to Washington State in 1966. They raised their children in the Puget Sound area; and once retired, Dannis and Marilyn moved back to Chadron, where they live today on a small cattle ranch east of town. This ranch gave Dannis the opportunity to fully enjoy the things he loved most: nature, being a steward of the land, and caring for “his” animals – cattle, deer, turkeys, dogs, cats, etc. He also loved visiting and helping his many friends, family, and neighbors.
Dannis was predeceased by his parents, brothers Bruce and LaVerne and sister Gloria (Burnett) Robinson, step father Lawrence Finley and step brother Sam Finley.
He is survived by his loving spouse Marilyn (Urwin) Robinson of Chadron. Children Gary Todd of Caldwell, ID, Karen (Todd) Gallant and husband Bill of Dover, DE, Donna (Robinson) Dabson and husband Theodore of Tacoma, WA , David Robinson and wife Robin of Vancouver, WA. His surviving siblings include Nellie (Robinson) Smith and husband Dean of Grants Pass, Oregon, and 3 step sisters all of Wenatchee, WA. Lauraine (Finley) McGregor, Elaine (Finley) Bell, Glenna (Finley) Kingsley and husband Paul. Dannis also leaves behind his grandchildren: LaRissa Larsen, Alisha Masoud, Brian Holdbrook, Jennifer Walrath, Jessi Campos, Lauren Mink, Cameron Galbreath, Morgan Harper, Evan Harper; 9 great grandchildren and very special family friends Kelly, Dusti, and Hannah Walker.
Dannis was remembered with Military Honors at his Celebration of Life that was held on Monday, January 11, 2021 at Chamberlain Chapel. His remains will be spread on the land he much loved – the family ranch.
