Bonnie Jean Orr

June 9, 1934 — March 14, 2025

Gordon

Bonnie J. Orr passed away peacefully on March 14, 2025, at Gordon Countryside Care, Gordon, Nebraska.

She was born June 9, 1934, to Emil and Lena Warnke (Nydahl) in Cherry County. She was the youngest of seven children. She attended Gordon schools and graduated from Gordon High School in 1951 and in December of 1951 she married Jack Simms. They had one daughter, Pamela. Bonnie worked as a cook at the Hay Springs High School for many years. She and Jack later divorced and in 1981 she married Guy Orr. They made their home on the ranch south of Smith Lake for five years, then moved to Gordon where they lived for 32 years.

Bonnie had a quick wit and a wonderful sense of humor. She was a great cook and made some of the best ranch meals you would ever eat. She was loved by all who knew her and will be sorely missed.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Emil and Lena Warnke (Nydahl), daughter Pam, brothers Mel and Ray Warnke, sisters Genevieve Hemenway, Bernadine Vollintine and Dorothy (Turnbull) Janssen, husband Guy Orr, and nieces Shirley (Vollintine) Dohring, Connie (Vollintine) Brandon, Beverly (Turnbull) Binegar and Marilyn (Turnbull) Harris. She is survived by her great-nieces Lynne (Dohring) Pfortmiller and Kathryn Dohring.

In lieu of flowers, a memorial has been established to Gordon Countryside Care where Bonnie lived and received wonderful care for the last two years.
