Bonnie Hilliker passed away July 23, 2023, surrounded by her family at Gordon Countryside Care. Bonnie Lou Hilliker was born July 12, 1934, to Dewey and Freda (Hugen) Reed in rural Sheridan County, Nebraska. She was the 4th of 6 children. She grew up on a homestead on the edge of the sandhills.
Bonnie finished 8th grade and then stayed home to help raise her younger siblings and work on the farm. She recalled hauling water from the creek to the house and her favorite chore was milking the cows.
She met the love of her life, Lynn Hilliker, when her sister Millie Jane married Lynn’s brother Kenny. Bonnie and Lynn were married on May 29, 1953. After several years of ranching, they moved to town. She started work at the Covered Wagon one week after it opened. She made a mean chicken stripper and could have a customer's order ready before they got to the window.
She enjoyed music and reading books. She was known for Sunday breakfast and her love of crocheting gifts for loved ones. Bonnie was affectionately called GG, Gram, BonBon and Bonnie Lou.
She is survived by her son Bill (Deano) Hilliker of Kilgore, Nebraska, and daughter Tami (Dan) Bishop of Gordon, Nebraska; daughter of love Marlys (Bob) Jacobs of Morrill, Nebraska and sisters Millie Jane Hilliker and Carol Scott. She had 14 grandchildren, many great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
Bonnie was preceded in death by her husband of 70 years, Sidney Lynn Hilliker, her parents Dewey and Frieda, son Gerald, daughter Lynda, brothers Byron, Bill, and Bob. She is greatly missed by those she left behind.
